5 April 1820: An armed group of striking Glasgow workers marching to seize weapons at the Carron Ironworks in Falkirk were attacked by troops of the 10th Hussars and Stirlingshire Yeomanry in the so-called Battle of Bonnymuir during the Radical War of 1820. Nineteen strikers were arrested and four were wounded.
